Christian Moll Artist Post 4 2/8/16

Jed Hoon

Jed Hoon received his BA (1999) in Psychology and English from St. Michael’s College in Vermont, a Post-Baccalaureate Cerificate (2005) in Fine Art from Maryland Institute College of Art, and his MFA (2007) in Photography and Film from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).  He has taught photography as an Assistant Professor of Art at St. Norbert College in Wisconsin and presently serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at both VCU and Old Dominion University.  His films have been screened nationally, and his photography has been published and exhibited both nationally and internationally.

He uses a large format 4x5 camera and has an amazing on going project right now called an (A Glorious Victory). If you haven't check this series out I highly suggest giving it a look
Hoon also has another series called (Oyster Park), which is brilliant in my opinion. He does a great job of capturing the personalities of people and uses the vibrant and soft color to his advantage to make an exceptional photograph. I like that sense of roughness that out get from the photos he has made.

If you haven't caught on yet the artist is not Jed Hoon its Actually Shane Rocheleau. I decided to choose Shane specifically for the fact that he is really good at what he does as a photographer and an even better job getting the material across to make all of us better photographers. Also I plan to use him for this cat burglar project and make a better photo than one of his and achieve success from this project.

  1. Definitely love the play you did with describing him. I love how we seem to be getting a double image in the photo, and very little from the person who little of the person being captured.

  2. Good choice. I remember looking at him in photography one. It reminds me a lot of shane's style too. Even though the poses aren't what you would find people in it still feels very realistic
