Carra Roots - Weekly Artist Post 1

Andy Katz

Andy Katz is a well known traveling photographer. His work ranges from portraits to landscapes, but the pictures contain more than the eye can see. I say this because through his photos, he heightens the vibrance, ups the saturation and widens the view.

Andy does not have a main focus when it comes to photography. He allows where he is to direct what he will photograph. In many of his pictures you can see great use of color and light. It says that that he thinks to himself, will showing the color in make the photo in any way. As you can see from the images above it can truly help. Even though the photos I chose are landscape, you can tell even tell about what the people would mainly do in the area.

I was drawn to this photographer because of his great use of color. His pictures automatically stood out to me because they look so surreal. You can picture yourself in the day of the life of every one of them. That's what I feel photography should do. Make you feel something. Take you to a place that you might not have thought about going, or even open your eyes in a new way of seeing that place. That is what Andy Katz pictures do, an that is what he takes pride in.
