August Sanders is a German portrait and documentary photographer famous for his contribution to portraiture particularly through his series, People of the 20th Century, which includes around 40,000 images. These images show a variety of methods of portraits of what he considered to be certain sections of society such as artists, women or tradesmen. It also serves as an example of compartmentalizing work while still trying new things
