Heidi Johansen

Heidi Johansen is an artist from Norway who studied drawing, graphic design, and photography. When looking at her photography, the first thing that came to mind was when we were discussing photographs that are purposely underexposed or overexposed, but actually work with the image. I chose the first image because it is a beautifully framed composition. I appreciate that we can see the entire landscape, but can still have this focal point of the person being framed by the ripples in the water. The softness in the photograph also helps provide emotion. The second and third photographs, I believe, are examples of her work where she overexposed intentionally, especially in the second image. A lot of details are lost within the image, but it works well with the frame. If the second photograph wasn't overexposed, it could possibly take away from our main subject. It helps to exaggerate the focal point.
