Diana Scherer

Diana Scherer

She lives and works in Amsterdam. Most of her work is made up of series'. Two prominent subjects in her frames are women and flowers. What attracts me to her work is the iorny in how she represents her subjects. They are shown opposite to how most of society views them. Flowerfield and Nurture Studies  both explore the flower as a partnership between stem and root. The root is completely exposed, which is normally considered the less attractive piece of the plant that is hidden away in a vase. Women and Madchen dehumanizes women and children by disconnecting the viewer from their experience entirely by hiding their faces. They look more like rag dolls than actual living beings.
