Elena Shumilova is a russian mother who started to photograph her two sons interactions with animals. At least, that is where she started. She now has a range of photos that differ from portraits of her dogs to even self portraits. She started doing thease images when she recieved her first professional camera. The first photo is a self portrait i believe. I find this interestign because she chose to backlight the subject. But even though the subject is backlite the area around her is very well lite. I would love to try and recreate this shot on my own.the next photo is of one of her sons sitting on a window sill during a storm. This is a nice shot because the soft light that casts onto the boy's face, the fact that the boy's face is not completly visible. and i love that it is in black and white with a slight tint of blue. The last photo is of one of her sons walking in the snow. I LOVE this shot. the moon looks awesome in this photo and i love how the child is frozen in place stareing off at the moon. The atmosphere in this photo is amazing, with the smoke like air and the snow moving around. I really want to know how this lady works.
