Latoya Ruby Frazier is a photographer and media artist who uses conventions of social documentary to influence traditional narratives of urban grown. I chose to do my blog on Latoya because she was an influence on my upcoming series for class. With her concepts or what she shows attention to, to her drastic lighting choices, I see a correlation between my work and hers. I also believe that she uses her work to do more than entertain, but to send a message and make awareness, which is what I would like to achieve. She also does very abnormal approaches to her work and the framing of her subjects. She's not always about "beautiful". She has a grunge look to her work.
