Anna Luker - Land

Niagara Falls, From Below 1888

A beautiful stunning image, with a different perspective. Mr Barker hand painted and darkened the contrast between the falls and sky.

Gust of Wind on Mont Blanc 1860

This image is a great example on how far photography has some and the audience it touches. This photo was taken and shared with people all over the country. In earlier decades people we not always lavished the time or money to travel and see things they had never seen before. Photographer such as the Bisson brothers. They had given people a piece of the world they had not even dreamed of seeing. All thanks to photography! This same idea of sharing places with people still goes on today. Everyday we are stunned with beautiful images of places around the world, dreaming of one day going there ourselves.

Diann Fiery AKA 'Punchy'
Diann started out as an interior decorator. She majored in Studio Art at the University of Maryland, a member of Pi Beta Phi, then returned to study art photography, first at the University of Virginia and then at Virginia Commonwealth University in the MFA program in Richmond. In her working career she has achieved many awards and her work is part of many collections, including the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk!

The picture above shows the different contrasts of our human existence. I read this from the bottom seeing the mark of humans, the man-made pool, the luxury of tanning on a hot summer day. Something a lot of people can relate too. In the turn of the seasons mother nature's bidding seems to put a sheet of it's existence on us. Covering what lays of us. Just like the notion that is humans were to vanish from the earth all the animals and ecosystem would go back to perfect cycle. This are very telling of almost how far humans have come in the passing of time.
