New Word Paragraph

Eliot Porter.

I decided to focus on landscaping this week. Eliot Porter was a photographer throughout the 1990s, he used color in his landscapes shortly after his experience with black and white as a teenager.He originally went to school to be a biochemical researcher but loved photography so mush that he wanted to make it his focus. He has photographed al over the world including China. During his career he created photos for up to twenty five books. In the mid 1950s he began using Kodaks wash off relief process which he continued for the rest of his career. His photos are not too saturated which is why I am attracted to them. I like how they have a lighter tone to them.

Thomas Kettner

Thomas Kettner is a photographer best known for his work in beauty and fashion. I came across him a couple weeks ago and found his work to be really interesting. He captures creative angles, powerful highlights, and fluent motion in his work and can be seen throughout his portfolio. I love the contrast he presents in his work where you can see such a soft but embedded power of light striking specific points on the model (photo two). I really like how in one of his series under his special projects (photo 3) there was so much movement. In this particular photo, clearly the focus is not on any of the models which reminds me of what we have mentioned in class where you do not know what the photographer is thinking or what he wants you to see in the photograph. I think the idea that there is so much movement but sit a crisp detail of information like the sweat on the singers. Its a great photograph with plenty of movement around composition.

Cut Out Words

Bert Stern

Bert Stern (October 3,1929- June 26, 2013) was a self taught photographer. His images appear to have more of a personal/intimate feeling to them, because of how the subject(s) occupies the frame. His work to seems to me to have a settle sexiness to them. His photos are not too provocative, but at the same time, they are not too innocent. I feel like Stern's way of capturing his models enables his viewers to read more into them. The way the woman's eyes peak from the sunglasses, the placement of the glass and pyramid as well as the reflection in the glass and the way Monroe caresses the roses as well as her facial expressions, I feel expresses more meaning and seduction into these photos.

NADYA WASYLKO

Nadya Wasylko is a New York- based photographer whose work consists of "concept driven" and fashion photography. Her work interests me because of the arrangements and set ups of each piece tend complement and provide equilibrium within each piece, whether in color or in black and white. It is not only that, her pieces are fabricated with such tediousness and elegance that the piece would still be able to hold its ground if it were recomposed and photographed in the opposite color palette, black and white or in color, respectively.

Gilda Louise Aloisi

    Gilda Louise Aloisi is a artist who specializes in portraiture, documentary, and music photography. In her work, she makes sure to have a personal and autobiographical nature within her images. Her work exhibits a journey of emotional state of intimacy, and she makes sure her viewers can sense her love and passion. I particularly appreciate her portraits. I love the choice of putting her images in black and white. I always really enjoy looking at the lighting that she chose. The contrast of the dark blacks and bright whites on their faces are beautifully chosen and bring a lot of emotion into the photograph.
